Archaeology Society

Start off your year giving a new skill a go! Whether you are studying archaeology for the first time, are a seasoned archaeologist or simply have an interest in the subject, come along to this exciting and unique event and try out flint knapping – a process to create tools the way our ancestors did hundreds of thousands of years ago.

Led by experienced researchers, you can learn the basics of how our ancestors created flint handaxes with nothing but a piece of flint and a stone. It is an exciting opportunity to try out a new skill, meet new friends and get to know the Archaeology Society Committee that will be running events and socials throughout the year. Participation is free and no previous experience is needed, so come along and give it a go!

This event will be taking place in the outside Courtyard area of Below Deck.

The Organisers

Archaeology Society

A subject group for students of, and those interested in, Archaeology at the University. We provide social and educational opportunities, activities and trips relevant to the subject, especially to help students (and staff in the Archaeology department!) mix. We aim to broaden and support the understanding of Archaeology in the University and provide support to students where needed.
